Toenail Fungus – Laser Podiatry Treatments Nunawading

Nearly 15% of Australian’s suffer from fungal toenail disease.

Nail fungus (onychomycosis) is a common nail infection that causes your toenails to yellow or discolour. As the infection advances, nails can become thick, brittle and separate from the nailbed. This can become a very painful experience for your feet.

Synergy Sports & Wellness Group use the latest and most effective laser to treat fungal nails. Our laser toenail treatment is safe and effective and offers several advantages over alternative methods, such as prescription and over the counter drugs – which have had limited success.

The laser light penetrates through the nail and soft tissue to both kill fungus in its path and encourages new healthier nail growth.

Am I at risk for developing toenail fungus?

If you work in a humid environment with your hands in water frequently (bartending, cleaning), or wear socks that don’t breathe or wick away moisture, you’re also at risk.

One important factor is decreased blood flow, which occurs as we age. Nails also grow slower and fungus has a longer brewing time. Sweat can also contribute since it keeps your feet damp.

Cutting your nails simply removes the excess nail, but does not cure the infection that sits in your nail bed. More in-depth treatments are required to access the areas under the nailbed and down the sides of your nails.

How effective is laser treatment for toenail fungus?

Clinical studies show that the laser kills toenail fungus and promotes clear nail growth with a single treatment in better than 80% of cases.

The laser treatment is safe, effective, and most patients improve usually after their first treatment.

Does laser treatment on toenails hurt?

You will not experience pain, and you will probably not even feel any discomfort either. Laser treatment is so painless, in fact, that you do not even need anaesthesia when receiving it.

If you are like most patients, you will most likely experience a sensation of heat in the area that the laser is working.

There is no recovery period – just walk in – get treated and walk out.

How long does laser treatment for toenail fungus take?

The laser is then applied typically taking only a few minutes. Usually a visit for consultation and treatment will usually take about 30-50 minutes but the time of the treatment is affected by the size, thickness or deformity of the toenails.

Synergy Sports & Wellness Clinic is proud to offer laser nail therapy; a safe, pain free treatment for fungal toenails.
